What
is Webcasting? |
| |
Webcasting is a mode
of delivering recorded and/or lives audio
and video content over a network (usually
the internet or intranet). |
| |
- Live events are broadcast to online
users as they happen in 'real time'
- Post-event the content can be made
available for access at anytime as
'on-demand' webcasts.
- Content can also be prerecorded
and webcast 'as live'.
|
| |
In essence, webcasting
is both a broadcast tool as well as a
point to point communication tool. |

vReach Webcasting Process |

|
| |
 |
| |
|
| |
The vReach Webcasting process has 4 core
elements: |
| |
Video and Audio
Production |
| |
- The vReach Content Capture Team
records the presenter with visual
aid (PowerPoint presentation) at the
venue
- The vReach Production Team then
synchronies the video with the PowerPoint
presentation, ready for uploading
on the web
|
| |
Encoding
The Encoding Team compresses
the media and converts it into a format
that can be broadcast over the internet
or intranet with Real Windows Media being
the most prolific webcasting format.
|
| |
|
| |
Hosting
& Streaming
Webcasts require special
'streaming' servers that are designed
to broadcast webcast in the most efficient
way. If you put an encoded file on a standard
web server, the file will download to
the viewer's computer and can only be
watched when the whole file has been downloaded.
Streaming servers drip feed the file to
the viewer's computer and allow it to
be viewed as it arrives at the computer.
|
| |
- The vReach Uploading Team is responsible
for this process i.e. storing and
broadcasting the webcasts through
the net
- Live webcasts only work using streaming
servers. Servers are specific to the
webcasting format.
|
| |
Web Interface |
| |
- The viewer accesses a webcast by
first registering (and paying for
paid events) and then clicking on
a URL in a webpage
- The URL can link to a live broadcast
or an encoded file stored on the servers.
Content encoded in Windows Media format
plays in a Windows Media Player on
the viewer's computer. Webcasts can
also be viewed in custom branded 'micro
sites' that embed video players in
a webpage and synchronies the media
content with associated graphic and
text content
- Interactive features, such as chat,
polls and Q&A are the other features
which are available to the viewer

and for how long they watched for. |
| |
|
| |
Viewer Database
Generation
Through a online registration process. |
| |
|
| |
Monetization

through a secured payment gateway. |
| |
|
| |

the web in a searchable format. |
| |
|
| |
Hi-Quality

would be good internet bandwidth). |
| |
|
| |
Event
